Biomedica manages a medical diagnostic and non-clinical laboratory network providing services to research organizations, federal agencies, health service contractors, and drug companies. Biomedica has been organized to bid on behalf of its network affiliates and acquire and manage contracts from government agencies and their prime contractors. Members affiliated with Biomedica include university research laboratories, hospital medical diagnostic labs and private drugs synthesis and development companies. Services contracted with various members of the network provide a uniform identity and interface for bidding and processing contracts.
Medical Diagnostic Services The members of Biomedica network provide quality and testing services with significant geographical coverage. Diagnostic services are offered by sophisticated, automated and intelligent laboratories offering a broad range of laboratory tests. Every laboratory affiliated with the program subscribes to strict quality assurances such certification by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) or by CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act) The network also offers a wide variety of testing in clinical proteomics allergy & immunology, endocrinology, tissue typing, hepatitis testing, diabetes, Infectious Diseases, rehumatology, specialized lipid testing, and the Newborn Screening Biochemical Genetics Laboratory. A Mass Spectrometry Centre and advanced flow cytometry instruments is available. Biomedica's interface also provides uniform laboratory outreach billing solutions. Nonclinical Services Non-clinical services include drug design & synthesis, drug development/ preclinical , and research laboratory services. 1. We offer a strong and innovative drug design capability. We use our partner's medicinal chemistry expertise and the tools of both traditional and combinatorial synthesis to support research & development of new therapeutic strategies. We can rapidly produce new patentable design concepts for iterative synthesis and testing. Our chemists are experts in modeling, synthesis, analytical, and identification techniques. They have been directly responsible for the conception and development of many drugs including Halcionc, Xanax, Corvert, Zyvox,.and Rescriptor.
